Textured Soy Protein Tomato Pasta Sauce

Tomato pasta sauce made with Textured Soy Protein. Popular with children and as a pasta topping, this dish is also great for a rice-and-cheese bake or for lasagna. Make a large batch for convenience.

Ingredients

Serves 2
  • 200 g (solid weight 105 g) Textured Soy Protein
  • 1 can (400 g) Canned tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1/2 (about 75 g) Carrot
  • 1/2 (about 50 g) Onion
  • 1 clove (about 8 g) Garlic
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 10 g Vegetable stock powder
  • A pinch Salt
  • A pinch Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Direction

[Prepare the Textured Soy Protein]
  • Place the Textured Soy Protein in a strainer and squeeze out the liquid properly.
[Make Tomato Pasta Sauce]
  1. Finely chop the carrot, onion, and garlic.
  2. Add olive oil to a heated frying pan and stir-fry the chopped vegetables over low heat (about 2 minutes).
  3. Add the strained Textured Soy Protein, canned tomatoes (including the liquid), bay leaf, vegetable stock powder, salt, and pepper to the stir-fried vegetables and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the vegetable stock powder has dissolved (about 8 minutes).
